Burma. Kyakami, refuge sanctuary for Illegal Burmese
Migrants.
Kyakami is a Buddhist sanctuary in southern Burma (40 km from
Moulmein), built on the sea, which turn to be totally isolated at high
tide.
The monastery, which is a nun monastery, give shelter to refugees who
try to cross illegally to Thailand and also to those who are fleeing
back from Thailand before being expelled by the Thai government.
The nuns welcome these refugees in total impunity, the Burmese
government wishing to avoid any conflict with the religious authority
very influent in the country.
